Healing Through Nature's Wisdom:

Drawing Inspiration from the Desert's Resilience

In the intricate dance of life, mental health challenges can often feel like overwhelming shadows, casting doubt, fear, and uncertainty on our path. These obstacles, whether they manifest as anxiety or moments of self-doubt, aren't just hurdles; they're deeply personal experiences that shape our narrative.

We recognize the weight of these challenges, understanding that recovery isn't just about healing, but about rediscovering oneself. Our commitment is to stand beside you, offering a guiding hand as you navigate the complexities of your journey, ensuring you're never alone in your pursuit of well-being and inner peace.

We draw inspiration from the resilience and growth found in desert environments. By honoring the interconnectedness of the body and heart, our approach encourages you to navigate your emotional struggles and challenges by embracing your inner strength and potential for transformation, leading to personal growth and the ability to bloom despite adversity.

A Desert in Bloom Therapy is comprehensive and holistic treatment for mental health recovery that integrates various therapeutic modalities such as EMDR, somatic practice, trauma therapy, and specialized support for individuals with complex trauma, childhood trauma, disordered eating/eating disorders and those who have experienced domestic violence.

EMDR

We believe that the journey to mental well-being is as unique as the individual embarking on it.

Our approach is rooted in three foundational pillars that set us apart:

EMDR, eating disorder recovery, and domestic violence recovery

Salutogenic Asset Focus

Instead of merely addressing symptoms or pathologizing experiences, we embrace a salutogenic model. This means we focus on factors that support health and well-being, recognizing the inherent strengths and potential within each individual. We see challenges not as disorders but as opportunities for growth and transformation.

Personalized Care

No two journeys are the same. Understanding this, we tailor our therapeutic modalities to resonate deeply with your personal narrative, needs, and aspirations. Our commitment is to ensure that every step you take is aligned with your unique path to healing.

Co-Creation

Healing is a collaborative endeavor. We champion the power of co-creation. By intertwining our expertise with your insights and experiences, we craft a therapeutic journey that is not just effective but also deeply personal and meaningful.

Our mission is to create a foundation of healing, enabling individuals to live with freedom and flexibility.

We strive to equip them with the necessary tools and support to take risks, pursue their dreams, and embrace life's challenges with courage and resilience. By cultivating a deeply rooted sense of self and personal transformation, we empower individuals to not only heal but also break generational cycles of trauma, creating a ripple effect of positive change that extends beyond their own lives.

In this sacred space of healing and growth, we foster an environment where individuals can discover their true selves, connect authentically with others, and experience profound personal and relational transformation. Together, we shape a future where the integration of clinical expertise, holistic care, and compassionate support paves the way for a world where love, understanding, and personal growth are the cornerstones of mental health and well-being.

Meet Kristen

LCSW, Founder A Desert in Bloom Therapy

Kristen, a trauma therapist and the Founder of A Desert in Bloom Therapy brings a wealth of clinical expertise to her practice. She is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, which showcases her deep commitment to providing specialized care in trauma therapy. With a Master of Social Work from ASU and extensive experience in various therapeutic roles, including working in residential eating disorder treatment and as a high-needs case manager for children's mental health, Kristen's qualifications are a testament to her proficiency and dedication to mental health care.

Kristen's journey into the world of therapy is uniquely enriched by her early years in the performing arts. Singing and dancing from the age of three and later stepping into the realm of professional musical theater at thirteen, she developed an innate ability to connect with people, understand a spectrum of emotions, and communicate with impactful resonance. These skills, further nurtured during her time in Los Angeles recording an album of original songs, now play a pivotal role in her therapeutic approach, where she employs the power of art and expression to aid in healing and mental well-being.

Her academic pursuits, including a BS in Criminology and a minor in Chemistry from ASU, coupled with her certification in Crime Scene Technology, have equipped Kristen with analytical and investigative skills. These skills are invaluable in her approach to understanding and addressing the complexities of trauma and mental health.

Kristen's professional experiences have been integral in shaping her empathetic and effective approach to therapy. Her time in a domestic violence crisis shelter and her role as a high needs case manager for children's mental health provided her with critical insights into the resilience required to overcome trauma. These experiences, combined with her clinical training, have honed her ability to create a therapeutic space where empathy, clinical knowledge, and the transformative power of art and communication converge.

At A Desert in Bloom Therapy, Kristen's approach transcends traditional therapy methods. She integrates her artistic background with her clinical acumen, creating a unique therapeutic environment that empowers individuals through art, deep human connection, and the transformative journey of healing.
